United Utilities is beginning the procurement process for new applications for a place in the 2019 United Utilities Innovation Lab.
Applications will open 11 March 2019 – ahead of that date companies can register their interest to find out more about the programme.
The United Utilities Innovation Lab is a unique opportunity for innovative businesses to collaborate with the water company, helping to tackle key business challenges. The utility ran its first Innovation Lab in 2018.
The United Utilities Innovation Lab will be a 10-week programme and successful candidates will be co-located and work closely with United Utilities to test, develop, improve and demonstrate their product/service in live customer environments.
The lab process is intense for all parties and is suited to suppliers able to dedicate sufficient resource for the lab timelines, for ideas close to market ready and can be progressed in a 10 week period.
It is not suitable for long term research, commodity items or ideas that do not need technology acceleration.
Businesses will be invited to put forward proposals in the following key areas:
- Connected Customers
- Right information, right place, right time
- Empowered Colleagues
- Future of Water
In addition to providing successful applicants with the opportunity to test their solutions in a live environment, the programme will also enable them to gain access to and build relationships with senior United Utilities executives, with the potential to lead to longer-term commercial partnerships.
There is also the potential for the Best ideas to lead to contractual agreements for the purchase of the goods or services that have been developed together.
