Water and waste company Severn Trent has announced that Shane Anderson is to replace Tony Ballance as its Director of Strategy and Regulation.

Shane Anderson has been Severn Trent’s Head of Economic Regulation for the past five years and will take up his new role next month.
Severn Trent CEO Liv Garfield said:
“We had a really incredible response to our search for a new Director, with some impressive candidates from outside the business, but it’s really wonderful to be able to appoint another one of our own to such an important role, and Shane really was head and shoulders above the field.
“He was really instrumental in piloting us through the PR19 process, getting us that fast-track status for the very first time, and his passion for all things Severn Trent really shone through the whole process.”
Before joining Severn Trent in 2015, he was at Ofwat for five years in a variety of roles, including helping deliver PR14 for the regulator, having previously worked for NERA Economic Consulting and in the Australian banking industry.
Commenting on his appointment, Shane Anderson said:
“I’m looking forward to thinking about the long-term future of the business, not just PR24 but over the course of next 20 years, where AMP8’s just a stepping stone.”
