The £3.1 million construction project, on the Surrey Sussex border near Horsham, will ensure the works can accommodate a growing population in the local area by 2035.

Additional tanks are being added to aid the treatment process, as well as a new stage to remove phosphorus from the final effluent.

Project Manager for Southern Water, Robin Woodward, said:

“We know how important it is to protect and enhance water quality and our precious environment across the areas we serve. These vital improvements at Forest Green Wastewater Treatment Works are much needed in our effort to continually improve the way we treat wastewater.”

Project Manager for contractor GTb, Pat Leonard said the upgrade is one of several projects is working on in the local area.

The work will help Southern Water meet its environmental targets.
