United Utilities starts work on £2.9 million upgrade to Hartford's water pipes

United Utilities has started work on a £2.9 million project to upgrade nearly 11km of water network in the Hartford area of Cheshire.

UNITED UTILITIES PIPELINE GENERIC

The three-month project will see United Utilities replacing the water mains in the area with new pipes that are designed to protect against bursts and leaks improving the resilience of the network.

The project is part of United Utilities’ plans to upgrade around 925km of water mains across the North West before 2030 - more than 159km of these will be in Cheshire.

Rob Moore, County Business Lead for Water in Cheshire at United Utilities commented:

“In Cheshire we’re investing £55 million between now and 2030 to help reduce leaks and keep water flowing through customers' taps. To do this we are upgrading more than 159km of water mains with new more durable, flexible pipes that are built to withstand high pressure and temperature variations. The work in Hartford is a key part of that programme and showcases our commitment to providing customers with the highest quality of drinking water.
