Scottish Water is holding a second public consultation event on proposals for a multi-million pound replacement of its bioresource treatment plant in Daldowie.

A further drop-in event will be held on Wednesday, August 19, at the Dogs Trust, at 315 Hamilton Road, Glasgow between 4.30pm and 7.30pm for the local community to find out more about the plans and the initial feedback received by the project team, as well as ask any questions.

The proposed investment will see the construction of a state-of-the-art bioresource treatment centre on land adjacent to the existing treatment facility at Daldowie.

The new centre will replace ageing assets at the site with modern technology designed to treat bioresource from households across Scotland's Central Belt to an extremely high-quality standard, as well as greatly improving carbon efficiency and reducing operating costs.

Scottish Water Project Lead, Fraser Simpson, said:

"We held a very constructive consultation event around this project in June, which was well attended by the local community and this follow up event seeks to build on the feedback we received as part of that.

“This is one of the most significant investments Scottish Water has ever undertaken, and we would encourage anyone that is interested to come along to find out more about the proposals and share their views.”

He added:

"The new bioresource treatment centre at Daldowie will make a major contribution towards Scottish Water’s net zero goals by dramatically reducing carbon emissions, generating renewable energy and producing a high-quality product that can be recycled to agricultural land.”

A planning application is expected to be submitted later in the year.
