Global management, engineering and development consultancy Mott MacDonald has been appointed by Northumbrian Water Limited (NWL) as one of four consultants on its Technical Services framework in the UK.
The framework covers Northumbrian Water’s operating areas in the north east as well as Essex and Suffolk.
The framework will comprise technical advisory services for multidisciplinary engineering work and will include feasibility studies, outline and detail design, site supervision and construction design and management coordinator services, all with associated environmental support.
Saeed Chaudhry, Mott MacDonald’s project director said:
“This framework will be a continuation of a strong working relationship with NWL as we have worked alongside the company for many years.”
“NWL have a number of challenging sustainability targets in place for the period of the framework and we hope to add value and contribute to these targets by using the range of unique tools developedby Mott MacDonald such as CapIT1 and LifeCycle2.”
The framework, which starts in April 2011, will be in operation for ten years, subject to reviews during the period.
Mott MacDonald’s CapIT tool is a single resource online construction and carbon tool for civil engineering and building data, containing all carbon and cost data from the ICE CESMM3 Carbon & Price Book and Hutchins UK Building Blackbook.
LifeCYCLE is a cost and carbon modelling tool which quantifies initial construction costs and embodied carbon by looking at all elements making up a building or piece of infra-structure. It also calculates the cost and carbon associated with every operation and maintenance activity over the asset’s working life. The tool is intended to enable customers to make strategic decisions based on ‘cradle to grave’ financial and environmental performance.
