The Glen Water & Northern Ireland Water Project Team has briefed council officials on an £8 million scheme to restore on-site lagoons back to grassland at Ballynacor treatment works.
The Works, located on the outskirts of Craigavon, treats wastewater from the Craigavon area and returns treated effluent to Lough Neagh.
NI Water said restoring the lagoons back to grassland will prevent the contents of the lagoons potentially polluting the environment in the future.
The work is expected to start in January 2013 and is expected to take approximately 18 months.
