Thames Water has begun the process of setting up an independent compensation panel of expert witnesses to adjudicate on claims relating to the Tideway Tunnel.
The water company is looking to appoint up to 40 participants to a framework agreement lasting up to 10 years and worth up to £1 million.
The Thames Tideway Tunnel (TTT) project recognises that those who live or work close to the construction sites may be impacted by the construction works and has introduced a series of Non Statutory compensation policies and procedures to deal with certain situations that arise.
Thames Water is seeking to establish an Independent Compensation Panel (ICP), which will consist of a Chairperson and a framework of experts in the following fields:
- Noise and vibration experts
- Transport planners
- Chartered building surveyors
- Chartered quantity surveyors
- Chartered engineers
- Residential chartered surveyors/ estate agents
- Medical advice
- Legal advice.
The chairperson will be expected to have a minimum of 20 years' experience of adjudication in urban projects, while the framework suppliers will need to have a minimum of 15 years' experience in their respective field.
The ICP will review and assess compensation claims arising out of the construction of the project, consisting of a chairperson and a framework of experts.
As well as individual compensation claims, the ICP will also be required to assess and ratify the Trigger Action Plans (TAPs), developed pursuant to project policies that will define trigger values and the planned mitigation package where adverse effects occur.
