The Government has confirmed that it will continue to support the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution (RCEP).

The government is seeking feedback on proposed amendments to the Groundwater Regulations 1998.

Ofwat has published its response on the River Basin Planning Guidance (Volume 2) consultation documents issued by Defra with regard to implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD).

Ofwat is seeking comment on its updated guidelines on services for disabled or elderly consumers.

According to a report in today's Daily Mirror newspaper, water firms are set to face “an angry backlash” as they prepare to reveal profits of £2 billion.

New inset appointment application

Ofwat has said that it has received a new application for an inset appointment at a site in Waterlooville called Old Park Farm under Section 8 of the Water Industry Act 1991.
Almost one year on from the floods of Summer 2007, the Environment Agency is inviting people to comment on plans for flood management across the entire River Severn catchment, including many of its tributaries.
The United Kingdom Technical Advisory Group (UKTAG) which provides coordinated advice on technical aspects of the implementation of the Water Framework Directive in the United Kingdom has added two new documents to its website.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is warning plant hire companies to ensure their vehicles are supplied in a safe condition after a Treharris company were prosecuted for hiring out an excavator without suitable rollover protection, and for failing to carry out pre- and post-hire checks on equipment and hirers.

The House of Lords European Union Committee is  conducting a short inquiry into the European Commission’s proposed draft Directive (published on January 23) for revisions intended to improve and extend to the EU’s Emissions Trading System (ETS).
