All Northumbrian Water employees will now earn at least £7.85 per hour as the Living Wage Foundation announced the water company’s official accreditation as a Living Wage employer today.

In a case brought by the Environment Agency, South West Water has been fined £214,000 and ordered to pay £27,750 in costs for polluting the River Tamar.

Yorkshire Water has announced a major investment package of £46 million to renew and improve its telemetry equipment that helps control water distribution, quality and treatment throughout the region.

A catchment management scheme to improve the quality of the water in the River Ouse has been officially launched in a partnership between South East Water, Natural England and farmers – the first year of the scheme has focussed on metaldehyde in slug pellets.

United Utilities is facing the prospect of industrial action in a pensions dispute when the joint unions meet today to agree a joint response to United Utilities proposals to close its defined benefit pension scheme.
