NI Water awards £1.5m solar power contract

Northern Ireland Water has awarded a contract for small scale solar installations to Lisburn-based firm Solmatix Ltd.

In addition to roof mounted solar pv modules and roof mounted support for the pv arrays, other services to be provided under the contract include site surveys, structural surveys, generation connection applications, planning and building control applications.

The contractor will also be required to commission and install equipment to meet the requirements of the Distribution Network Operator.

Solmatix Ltd was one of 8 companies in the bidding for the work, which is worth an estimated £1.5 million.

The contract period will run from now until March 2017, with the option to extend for a further 1 year period.
