Scottish Water has gone out to tender with a sewage treatment works contract worth up to £30 million.
Scottish Water is developing a long-term strategy to address the water quality needs of the Upper and Lower River Clyde under the requirements of the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive and the Water Framework Directive.
The water company is looking to appoint a Process partner, following which it is intended they will be appointed as the nominated sub-contractor to an overall Project Delivery Partner. At this stage the Project Delivery Partner has yet to be appointed.
Scottish Water intends to progress with 1 of the 2 following options, or a combination of both:
Option 1 — Tertiary Chemical Dosing process and Option 2 — Granular Activated Sludge process.
Option 1 covers the design, manufacture, delivery and commissioning of a Tertiary Chemical Dosing plant for the purposes of achieving the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive total phosphorus discharge requirement of 1mg/l, including:
- Tertiary Chemical Dosing and high rate clarification plant for phosphorus removal.
- All necessary instrumentation and controls including MCCs. Chemical storage and dosing plant for coagulant and floculant.
- New sludge de-watering facilities for sludge produced from Tertiary Chemical Dosing including sludge holding tanks, to form a sludge cake with appropriate storage, handling & transportation off-site
Option 2 consists of the design, manufacture, delivery and commissioning of a Granular Activiated Sludge Plant for the purposes of achieving the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive total phosphorus discharge requirement of 1mg/l, including:
- Granular Activated Sludge ProcessAll necessary instrumentation and controls including MCCs.
- Chemical storage and dosing plant for coagulant and/or floculant.
- New sludge dewatering facilities including sludge holding tanks, to form a sludge cake with appropriate storage, handling and transportation
Scottish Water is planning to hold a bidders' day subsequent to the closure of expressions of interest.
The contract, which is in two Lots, has a maximum estimated value of £30 million.
