Affinity Water has awarded a contract to carry out process and network modifications needed to facilitate the delivery of HS2 worth an estimated £55.2 million.
The timing of the works will vary - Affinity Water intends to set up an arrangement covering a number of Lots:
Lot 1: Design and installation of water mains and services.
Lot 2: Design and installation of modifications of up to 5 treatment sites - primarily to deal with the risk of increased levels of chalk turbidity as a result of HS2 construction and on going maintenance.
Lot 3: Design and installation of modifications of up to 2 existing groundwater abstraction sites and/or additional booster pumping for the connection to another utility’s network.
Barhale has been awarded the contract for Lot 1, one of four companies to bid for the work.
Belfast-based form Northstone (NI) Ltd and Glan Agua (UK) Ltd have been awarded contracts for Lots 2 and 3.
