Aberdeen City Council tests market feasibility for supply of feedstock for proposed AD plant

Aberdeen City Council is looking to potential suppliers to gather information about the availability and supply of feedstocks in the North East area for a proposed anaerobic digestion gas to grid plant.

The Council has launched a soft market testing exercise which is aimed at determine the market feasibility to procure and supply the required feedstock mix to the Council’s AD G2G plant.

The proposed AD G2G plant will be built on the site of the new Exhibition Centre development, Dyce, Aberdeen by Summer 2019.

There is limited space for onsite storage of input and output feedstock materials, therefore all feedstock will be delivered on a “just in time” principle and transferred to the site as and when required from an offsite location.

Aberdeen City Council is looking for a feedstock provider to:

  • procure the required feedstock mix
  • deliver feedstock on a “just in time” basis to the AD plant site
  • remove digestate from the AD plant site regularly

The Council expects to issue a formal contract notice in early June - the procurement is covered by the Government Procurement Agreement.
