The Highland Council has gone out to tender with a contract for flood prevention works worth an estimated £8.7 million in total.
Construction of the Caol and Lochyside Flood Protection Scheme will protect 300 properties. The scheme includes construction of 1,2 km of flood embankment with rock armour revetment and 0,8 km of in situ concrete wall with rock armour revetment. In addition there are utility diversions, a secondary drainage system, footways and landscaping.
The works are adjacent to the river Lochy (tidal section) and the shore of Loch Linnhe.
