The Environment Agency (EA) has gone out to tender with a contract to strengthen the resilience of its incident support role across England worth an estimated £9.5 million.

Defra is tendering the contract on behalf of the Agency for logistics, storage and operational support to enable and support the EA in its incident response role across England.
A key part of the contract will include ensuring flood barriers and pumps are ready for rapid deployment to protect against flooding.
Requirements will include:
- A minimum total of 20,000sq feet with a surge capacity to hold a further 5,000 sq. feet in total if required between locations;
- Warehousing and the full access route to the main arterial road network MUST be situated away from areas considered at risk of flooding or of suffering flood-related damage (e.g. ground instability / landslides.)
