British Water seeks supplier input into Supply Chain Task Force Surveys

Leading water and wastewater trade association British Water is seeking input from companies of all shapes and sizes active in the UK water industry into a survey in key areas of interest for the wider water sector supply chain.

British Water formed a Supply Chain Task Force in 2021 to explore some of the key themes that are believed to be hampering effective project delivery, efficiency and collaboration in the UK water market. The aim is to help build a more sustainable and resilient supply chain for the future.

To aid the work of the Task Force, the association is asking members and non-members alike to complete a short survey in three separate sections to evaluate the continuing impact of cyclicality, blockers to innovation and whether current commercial terms and conditions and procurement processes are fit for purpose.

The surveys are:

  • Innovation Survey The survey is seeking to explore suppliers’ drivers to innovate, awareness of available sources of funding for innovation and the availability of test facilities for new innovations.
  • Cyclicality Survey The water sector in England and Wales is subject to a 5-year investment period and a series of key milestones set out by OFWAT. The current AMP7 investment period runs from April 2020 to March 2025. OFWAT will undertake the next Price Review in 2024 to determine the levels of investment needed for the AMP8 2025-30 investment programme. The questions in this survey aim to understand the impact of cyclicality on the supply chain.
  • Procurement and Terms & Conditions Survey The questions are aiming at understanding how procurement practices affect the productivity, well-being, and level of risk taken on by the supply chain.

Deadline to submit responses to the survey, which is open to British Water members and non-members alike, has now been extended to 7th April 2022.
