United Utilities has gone out to tenders with an AMP7 contract for the supply and delivery of Granular Activated Carbon & Powder Activated Carbon worth an estimated £26.7 million.

The water company is looking to procure Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and Powder Activated Carbon (PAC) to remove certain chemicals at the company’s water sites for water purification purposes.
The contract is being tendered in two separate Lots:
Lot 1 Supply of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) - £8 million
The activated carbon must be registered on the List of Approved Products for Use in Public Water Supply in the United Kingdom in accordance with Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) regulations.
Lot 2: Powder Activated Carbon - £18.7 million
Requirements include PAC manufactured to the QA certification ISO 9001 to be delivered either by tanker or in bags to ensure correct fitting to feed hoppers of the United Utilities’s dosing equipment.
Initial contract term will be 4 years with a further 4 years in extension options.
