Ceredigion County Council has gone out to tender to find a suitable contractor to undertake coastal defence works at and around Aberaeron Harbour.

The Council manages and maintains over 12km of artificial coastal defences (sea walls, breakwaters, groynes, rock revetments etc.) including the Piers at New Quay and Aberaeron, and various sea walls along the Ceredigion coast.
In recent years the local authority has undertaken major coastal defence schemes at Aberaeron North Beach - the Council is now promoting further coastal defence schemes for the Harbour/South Beach area at Aberaeron.
Under the terms of the contract the successful supplier will be required to deliver Community Benefits in support of the authority’s economic and social objectives. Contract performance conditions may relate in particular to social and environmental considerations.
The Council has indicated that it considers that the contract is suitable for consortia.
Expected duration of the contract to carry out the works is 18 months.
Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 16 January 2023 – click here to access the tender documentation.
