United Utilities has launched a pre-market engagement exercise the for inspection, repair and maintenance activities for chemical tanks.
The water company has issued a Periodic Indicative Notice seeking supply chain input ahead of going out to tender with a framework contract in April 2023.
Over an estimated period of 3 – 4 years, United Utilities is undertaking a detailed programme of work to ensure compliance at many of its operational sites. Services will be completed on wastewater and clean water treatment facilities and pumping stations throughout the North West of England.
United Utilities is looking to procure chemical tanks services and is undertaking pre market research in order to evaluate the current market capability.
Scope of services covered on chemical storage tanks of varying material types, plastics and steel and the associated bunds.under the framework will include :
- Above ground External Inspections on operational (in-service) – chemical, fuel and biological waste tanks
- Above ground Internal inspections on non-operational (out of service) - chemical, fuel and biological waste tanks
- Underground fuel tanks.
- Using varied, demonstrable inspection methods to accommodate for size, location and accessibility of tanks.
The programme of work will typically include:
- Repair to tank lining
- Repair of associated pipework
- Tank welding to fix defects/cracks/leaks
- Repairs for UV damage/corrosion (repainting)
- Repairs to bunds
