Portsmouth Water has gone out to tender with an AMP8/9 Contract for Infrastructure Term Service and Smart Water Meter Installation worth an estimated £136.5 million.

The contract is being tendered in the following Lots:
Lot A Contract: Infrastructure Term Service Contract (£75 million) – including:
- water mains renewals and replacements
- new water mains, service pipes and connections
- water mains extensions and diversions
- water mains repair and maintenance
- Smart Water Meter installation.
Lot B Contract: Smart Water Meter Installation (£61.5 million) – including:
- Smart Water Meter installation and commissioning, including deployment planning and delivery, strategic planning
- Smart Water Meter installation and commissioning.
Both lots will require the appointed contractor to provide programme planning, planning and scheduling of work, traffic management and street works compliance, and customer engagement, liaison and communication services throughout the life of the contract.
The contractors will be required to work in collaboration with Portsmouth Water, per other lots, and the Smart Asset, Network and Data Services supplier which is the subject of a separate procurement.
Initial contract term for both Lots is 5 years (60 months), with an optional extension period of up to a further 5 years (60 months).
The successful contractor for Lot B must have previous experience of installing water meters in the UK and experience in handling electronic installations securely and compliantly at scale.
All interested organisations must complete and submit a completed Selection Questionnaire by the specified closing date and time.
