NRW has put the framework in place in order to ensure continued access to contractor resource to carry out essential works under the flood risk programme, reservoir compliance projects and other large scale civil engineering projects.

The environmental regulator for Wales manages 7% of Wales’ land, including the Welsh Government Woodland Estate, maintains 455 km of flood defences and 56 National Nature Reserves.

Natural Resources Wales is also the regulatory body responsible for managing water resources in Wales.

This includes taking action, where necessary, to conserve, redistribute and augment water resources and to secure their proper use. NRW has six reservoir Section 20 operating agreements with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water which cover the Dee, Dwyfor, Aled, Clwyd, Tywi and Wye rivers.

Five companies were in the bidding for the work - Binnies UK Ltd, Ove Arup & Partners Ltd and Jeremy Benn Associates Ltd. have all been awarded a place on the framework , which runs for a four year term from 2024 to 2028.
