NI Water appoints Arup to help improve efficiency and sustainability of capital works programme

Global engineering and sustainability development firm Arup has been commissioned to provide consultancy services and support delivery of the Capital Works Programme under the NI Water’s IF182 Professional Services Framework.

Arup will provide a wide range of services including network modelling, digital innovation and the development of strategies and plans to strengthen climate resilience, reduce carbon emissions, and improve efficiency of capital delivery.

Working with partners EY, Crowder Consulting and Doran Consulting, Arup’s role also includes the design, project management and supervision of capital projects from inception through delivery to operations.

Arup has a long-standing relationship with NI Water, having supported with shaping the previous business plan submission, including the energy strategy, and delivering multiple clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects over the past seven years.

These include projects to help accelerate NI Water’s transition to become a zero-carbon business such as the installation of a state-of-the art battery energy storage system at Dunore Point, Antrim. Arup also supported the rationale, development and implementation of NI Water’s Climate Change Strategy, so has a deep understanding of the company’s ambitions to reduce carbon emissions and strengthen resilience to the impacts of climate change.
