Westminster City Council awards £3.48m bridges and structures contract extension to FM Conway

Westminster City Council has awarded a six month contract extension for its bridges and structures work to FM Conway worth an estimated £3.48 million –  extending a contract which was first awarded in April 2014.

WESTMINSTER BRIDGE

The Council has issued a Volunturay Ex Ante Transparency notice highlighting that it is modifying an existing contract awarded to FM Conway under a single supplier framework agreement for Highways and Transportation Servicesi had been procured in 2014. The contract was for an overall term of twelve years. The company was also awarded contracts under the same framework for Highways Management, Maintenance and Public Realm Projects (including Gully cleansing) and Public Lighting.

The bridges and contract work is due to expire on 31st of March 2026. The proposed contract modification is limited to an amendment to the service period to provide for an additional six months to 30th September 2026 to provide substantially the same services.

The estimated value of the six month extension is £3.48 million against a total spend to date value of £104.4 million. The actual value of the spend during the six month extension will depend on the volume and specifics of the works and services ordered under the contract during the six month period.

The Council said the option of a short extension of six months was required due to the complexity of the larger re-procurement project that is currently being undertaken. The extension would ensure that mobilisation of the new contract is not rushed and the best possible outcome is achieved for the life of the new contract.
