Yorkshire Water intends to start the procurement process for the provision of Employee Screening Services.

The planned procurement follows a prior market engagement exercise and aims to establish a contract to support pre-employment and ongoing vetting requirements across the organisation.
The contract will ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and internal governance obligations, and will support secure, efficient and consistent onboarding and workforce assurance processes.
The procurement is expected to cover a comprehensive range of employee screening and verification services, which may include:
- Pre-employment background checks
- Right to Work verification
- Criminal record checks (Basic / Standard / Enhanced DBS)
- Employment history and referencing
- Academic and professional qualification verification
- Credit, financial integrity or adverse media checks (where applicable)
- Ongoing vetting or periodic re-screening
- Digital or automated screening technologies
- Management information, reporting and compliance support
The final scope will be confirmed in the procurement documents at launch.
Current estimated total value is £800,000 including VAT.
Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2028 with a further possible extension option up to 31 July 2030.

Current estimated contract award decision date is 10 July 2026.
Yorkshire Water will conduct the procurement using a Competitive Flexible Procedure; the process will follow a single-stage structure combining a Conditions of Participation (CoP) and Invitation to Tender (ITT), allowing suppliers to submit full participation responses at the same time.
Interested suppliers will be required to submit combined CoP and ITT responses within the defined tender period. Following initial evaluation, Yorkshire Water reserves the right to enter into negotiation or clarification with one or more tenderers to refine technical or commercial proposals, ensuring value for money and compliance with regulations.
