Yorkshire Water has awarded an AMP8 contract for Employee Screening Services with an estimated value of £800,000.

The water company went out to tender in April 2026 following a prior market engagement exercise with the aim of establishing a contract to support pre‑employment and ongoing vetting requirements across the organisation.
The contract will ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and internal governance obligations, and will support secure, efficient and consistent onboarding and workforce assurance processes.
Scope of the contract covers a comprehensive range of employee screening and verification services including:
- Pre‑employment background checks
- Right to Work verification
- Criminal record checks (Basic / Standard / Enhanced DBS)
- Employment history and referencing
- Academic and professional qualification verification
- Credit, financial integrity or adverse media checks (where applicable)
- Ongoing vetting or periodic re‑screening
- Digital or automated screening technologies
- Management information, reporting and compliance support
The contract has been awarded to Security Watchdog Ltd – part of Matrix, the company is a global, specialist background screening business helping organisations build and maintain workforce integrity.
Earliest date the contract will be signed is 28 August 2026.
Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2028 with a further possible extension option up to 31 August 2030.
