£35m flood prevention scheme goes out to tender

The Environment Agency has put out to tender on its northern minor works framework with individual contracts worth up to £250,000.

Up to 16 firms are invited to participate for the four year contracts, with the overall scheme costing between £25million and £35million.

A variety of work will be covered varying from replacement of rock armour and strengthening embankments to repairing concrete structures, timber and sheet piling. Creating habitats for wildlife and environmental enhancements are also tasks as well as refurbishment of pumping stations, telemetry kiosks and fish passes.
