The Environment Agency (EA) has announced the successful suppliers for its Water and Environment Management (WEM) Framework, worth £1bn over four years.
The WEM framework replaces the current National Engineering and Environmental Consultancy Agreement (NEECA) and National Contractors Framework (NCF) as the EA’s main asset delivery vehicle. The framework will operate for four years with scope for a further two-year extension.
As well as £1bn spend for the next four years, the EA said it will invest more than £2.5 billion over the next ten years to reduce the risk from river and coastal flooding and to secure social and environmental improvements.
The WEM Framework will be available to all directorates within the Environment Agency, other risk management authorities and Defra delivery bodies. These include local authorities and internal drainage boards.
