United Utilities tenders £60m AMP6 framework contract

United Utilities has gone out to tender with another AMP6 framework contract worth up to £60 million which could extend to AMP7.

United Utilities will appoint up to 15 companies to the framework – which with contract extensions could run for up to 12 years and span both the AMP6 and AMP7 investment periods.

The framework will support the utility’s main AMP6 construction delivery and engineering services framework. Last month United Utilities awarded its main framework agreements for AMP6 to an Engineering Services Provider and Construction Delivery Partners  - which also have an option to run for 12 years in total, extending into the AMP7 period.

The work will cover:

  • Ground Investigation, involving exploratory work in support of the capital investment programme, strategic studies and maintenance activities.
  • Geophyiscal Investigation (offshore/overwater), including hydrographic/bathymetric and sub bed profile surveys supporting GI framework activity, capital investment, studies and maintenance.
  • Hydrogeological and well drilling, strategic and testing studies and maintenance activities.

United has divided the work into three Lots:

Lot 1: Ground Investigation Services (including geotechnical and geoenvironmental investigation); Geophysical (downhold and surface).

Lot 2: Offshire Geophysical Surveying.

Lot 3: Hydrogeological Drilling & Well Services.

As in previous AMP programmes, United Utilities will award frameworks to enable access to a range of:

  • Ground Investigation (GI) framework contractors to undertake a programme of exploratory work in support of the capital investment programme, strategic studies and maintenance activities.
  • Geophyiscal Investigation (offshore/overwater) framework contractors to undertaken hydrographic/bathymetric and sub bed profile surveys supporting GI framework activity, capital investment, studies and maintenance.
  • Hydrogeolopgical and well drilling contractors to support the capital investment programme, strategic and testing studies and maintenance activities.

Successful contractors will need the capability both to deliver work acting as Principal Contractor and to deliver work as a contractor to others who are acting as Principal Contractor.
