The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs has issued updated directions to the Environment Agency on its obligations to protect groundwater.

The European Commission has requested the Czech Republic and Poland respectively to bring their national laws on the protection of groundwater against pollution and deterioration into line with the Groundwater Directive and the assessment and management of flood risks into line with the Floods Directive.

As the UK’s implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) gathers pace, water companies and industry will need to make wastewater treatment and management a priority, says Air Products.

The government is seeking feedback on proposed amendments to the Groundwater Regulations 1998.
