Amiblu, a global leader in Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) pipe systems for wastewater, stormwater, drinking water, irrigation, hydropower, and industrial applications, has announced the appointment of Martyn Turton as its Sales Director for the UK & Ireland, driving strategic market development in the infrastructure and water sectors, effective immediately.

Turton's appointment underscores Amiblu's commitment to the UK and is part of a wider recruitment drive, with other new hires joining the sales directorate as it strengthens its UK presence.
Martyn brings with him over two decades of experience in construction sales, with a strong focus on drainage and water management. In his new role at Amiblu, he will be instrumental in driving market expansion and championing sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Martyn’s career includes early project involvement working with clients including National Highways, the Environment Agency and the Olympic Delivery Committee, developing water management solutions. Most recently, he spent over 11 years at Marshalls, specialising in above and below ground drainage, attenuation and filtration systems.
During his tenure at Marshalls, he contributed to major infrastructure projects including the roll out of smart motorways across England, HS2 civil packages as well as Hinckley Point C, collaborating with leading Tier 1 contractors such as Costain, Balfour Beatty, and Kier.
At Amiblu, Turton will focus on several key priorities:
• Driving ESG Adoption: He recognises ESG as a critical focus for the sector, despite the challenge of higher initial costs for greener alternatives, which often leads contractors towards using more traditional materials like concrete & cast iron. "Amiblu is offering a relatively new product and solutions to the UK market, although it is widely used around the world. Its environmental credentials should allow contractors to more effectively reach their ESG targets."
• Addressing Market Pinch Points: Turton anticipates significant pressures on plant, raw materials, and heavy transport as AMP8 enters its second year. “AMP8 is approaching its second year and we expect demand for materials and plant to increase significantly, putting pressure on transport and lifting equipment to deliver the more traditional concrete pipes, manholes and chambers. GRP, on the other hand, is much easier to transport & install helping contractors avoid the inevitable shortages in plant that will arise”.
• Innovation and Flexibility: His role will also involve developing new GRP products that are more flexible and bespoke than traditional materials, offering a more user-friendly solution for complex infrastructure needs.
• Stormwater Management: Turton also highlights Amiblu's innovative offerings in retrofit & stormwater discharge, calling products like Amiscreen "not only topical but also game-changing for the sector."
"We are thrilled to welcome Martyn to the Amiblu team," said Yännick van den Nieuwendijk, Global Director of Marketing, Communications, and Sales Excellence at Amiblu.
"His profound understanding of the construction and water management sectors, coupled with his passion for sustainable solutions, will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and expand the reach of our GRP pipe systems in the UK. Martyn's strategic vision aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing environmentally superior and cost-effective infrastructure solutions."
Martyn Turton commented:
"I am thrilled to join Amiblu and contribute to a company that is at the forefront of sustainable infrastructure. The potential of GRP to address the industry's challenges is immense and I look forward to working with our partners to unlock new opportunities and demonstrate how Amiblu can deliver long-term value and resilience."
