The World Bank has launched an innovation challenge to develop big data solutions to strengthen climate change resilience, including global water issues.

WHITE HOUSE PREP coastal floodingThe White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), World Resources Institute (WRI), U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) and a network of partners have launched the Partnership for Resilience and Preparedness (PREP) to help communities, companies and investors use data to improve climate resilience planning.

Ofwat has received a Water Supply and Sewerage Licence application from a commercial gas supplier targeting new business in the water sector ahead of the opening of the non-household retail market to competition in April next year.

The Consumer Council for Water (CCWater) has warned poorer performing water companies to improve their service after it emerged almost half the industry saw a rise in customer complaints last year.

Ofwat has said that the introduction of household competition in the water sector could deliver up to £3 billion in benefits to customers –and the regulator is calling for the government to take an early decision on the issue.

Ofwat publishes PR 16 draft determinations

Ofwat has published its draft determinations for the PR16 price review, as part of the preparation for the opening of the business, public and charity sector retail water market in April 2017.
