Royal Bam, the Dutch parent company of UK Bam Construct and Bam Nuttall, has reported significant losses in the UK with the publication of its results for the first half of 2014.

Following the consultation on Towards the Sustainable Management of Wales’ Natural Resources, the Welsh Government’s White Paper consultation on proposals for an Environment Bill, work is continuing to prepare the Bill for introduction into the National Assembly for Wales in 2015.

The Environment Agency has appointed Team Van Oord, the Joint Venture partnership between Van Oord, Kier, Mackley Construction and Royal HaskoningDHV, to construct a £30 million scheme to reduce flood risk in Kent.

Dredging on the Somerset Levels is moving into the final phase - the Environment Agency has dredged 8 kilometres of river banks on the Parrett and Tone and is now passing halfway in the dredging operation.

Halcrow Group has won a £200,000 to provide Falkirk Council with consultancy services covering  flooding and drainage related professional services.

The Council has appointed Halcrow as a Term Consultant for the review of development submissions received by the Planning authority with respect to flooding and drainage.

Halcrow, which was acquired by CH2M HILL in November 2011, will provide expert technical under the framework agreement. The contract will run for an initial period  of 2 years, with a maximum extension of 2 years.

A total of six firms were in the bidding for the work, which has an estimated value of around £210,000. 

The Boards of ARCADIS and Hyder Consulting PLC have announced that they have reached agreement on the terms of a recommended increased cash offer by ARCADIS UK Investments b.v.

Portsmouth Water is to consider making more bulk supplies available to neighbouring companies, according to its final Water Resource Management Plan published today.

Humanity exhausts its annual ecological budget

Humanity has exhausted its annual ecological budget in less than eight months, according to data from Global Footprint Network, an international sustainability think tank and WWF partner.

The Welsh Assembly has launched a new consultation on its Draft Vision and Objectives and the proposed structure of the Welsh National Marine Plan.

MacroAsia Corporation has awarded Biwater a project to design and construct a 10 million litres per day water treatment plant for the district of Solano in the Nueva Vizcaya province in the Philippines.
