The Environment Agency has issued detailed guidance on applications to build new hydropower schemes.

The Conservative UK Government must give its full backing to the £1 billion Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon and allay fears about its future, Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron told the Welsh Liberal Democrat conference on Saturday in Cardiff.

Green Highland Renewables is about to start work on a significant new hydro scheme at Loch Eilde Mor, in the hills above Kinlochleven.

Leading renewable energy developer Dulas has completed work on the second phase of a 2.5 MW solar project which will provide energy for Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s Five Fords waste water treatment works in Wrexham.

The Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association has expressed its relief that the Department for Energy and Climate Change has listened to industry on their planned reforms to the feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme.

The Carbon Trust has flagged up supply chain sustainability, internal carbon pricing, 100% renewable energy commitments and science based targets as practical tools being used by corporates to achieve zero carbon business plans.

Global climate deal agreed in Paris

The United Nations conference on climate change in Paris has agreed an historic new global climate agreement.

A new report from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers is warning that EU waste water quality demands are costing UK water companies millions every year and leading to extra carbon emissions.

The £1.15 billion allocation for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) budget announced in the Spending Review could support the construction of an additional 140 biomethane plants –a technology with the potential to meet up to 30% of UK’s domestic gas or electricity demand.

The Committee on Climate Change, the independent, statutory body which advises the UK Government and Devolved Administrations, has published its 5th Carbon Budget.
