The Met Office is forecasting severe weather tomorrow across parts of England and Wales, with warnings of “injuries and danger to life from flying debris” especially in the southwest.
From tonight rain heavy rain is set to affect many areas, with severe gales developing in the southwest and some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and large waves.
The weather forecaster is also predicting delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport, and the possibility of short term loss of power and other services.
An area of low pressure is expected to bring the spell of strong winds and heavy rain to southern England and south Wales on Saturday. Gusts of 55-60 mph are likely inland with gusts of 70 mph around coasts and over hills - the Met Office said the strongest gusts are most likely across coastal southwest England where isolated gusts of up to 80 mph are possible in very exposed locations during the morning.
Affected regions and local authorities beyond the southwest include the East Midlands, East of England, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Cambridgeshire, London and South East England.
