£140 million from the investment programme will also be prioritised for 29 projects that are ready for delivery to help make sure communities are protected as soon as possible. These include:

The Environment Agency said the 2 year commitment will better protect 52,000 homes and non-residential properties. The Regional Flood and Coastal Committees (RFCCs) support the EA’s approach and have agreed the programme.

However, the Agency is cautioning that the future of multiyear projects is subject to change and the outcome of both annual RFCC consenting and the 2025 Spending Review.
