The Environment Agency is carrying out a management review of flood defences between Saltfleet and Gibraltar Point and will be hosting two workshops for people to have their say on how tidal flood risk is managed in the future.
The events will take place at the Meridale Centre, Sutton on Sea, on Wednesday, 18 May and at the North Shore Hotel, Skegness, on Wednesday, 25 May.
Environment Agency staff will be on hand to talk about how coastal flood risk is currently managed, find out what people want the coast to be like in 20 years time and discuss the key areas that should be covered by the review.
The events, which are aimed at people living and working between Saltfleet and Gibraltar Point, will also help them understand their level of risk from coastal flooding.
Mike Dugher, Area Coastal Manager, said:
“Defences on the Lincolnshire coast provide an excellent standard of protection but coastal flooding remains a risk. Our review will determine the best way to manage the risk to ensure properties and business along the Lincolnshire coast remain protected and the area can look forward to a safe and sustainable future.
“We want to hear the views of residents and business owners on this and hope they will take the opportunity to attend one of our planned workshops.”
The review of the coastal defences is being undertaken in partnership with a number of organisations including Lincolnshire County Council, East Lindsey District Council, Natural England and local business groups.
Places on the workshops are limited. For timings and to book a place, contact the dedicated Environment Agency booking line on 01522 785904.
In addition to the workshops, Environment Agency staff will also be carrying out door-to-door surveys to find out people’s views on and knowledge of the coastline and coastal flood risk. The surveys will take place along the East Lindsey District coastline throughout May and June.
