Flooding and Flood Defence

Balfour Beatty has reached another milestone in its transformation of Rossall’s sea defences in Lancashire – the construction group recently commenced works to create an ecology park on the landward side of the sea defence scheme.

Two large storm pumps have been relocated by Yorkshire Water so agencies can respond quicker to protect homes and businesses from the risk of flooding.

The independent Committee on Climate Change(CCC) has warned MPs on the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee over the lack of information on critical infrastructure assets at risk of flooding in the UK.

Heacham-Beach-recyclingAnglian Water is contributing £100,000 of funding to the Wash East Coastal Management Strategy to help protect the North Norfolk Coast.

The Port of Boston has announced its full backing of the proposed Boston Barrier and has formally withdrawn its objection to the Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) application made by the Environment Agency in August 2016.

The Environment Agency has completed the first  phase work on a £28 million scheme  to help reduce the risk of flooding in Perry Barr and Witton.

Welsh Assembly Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs, Lesley Griffiths, will today announce £32 million capital funding to reduce the risk from flooding to over 2,100 homes and businesses across Wales.

The Environment Agency will spend approximately £12 million on flood defence maintenance to reduce risk to local communities during the next financial year.

The Environment Agency is progressing with its proposals for a new flood defence scheme in Wilton, near Salisbury.

More than 2,000 people in Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire signed up for flood warnings in just two days when flooding threatened the east coast in January, according to the Environment Agency.
