Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, has today announced that its US Construction Services division has acquired Fru-Con Construction LLC, a leading water and wastewater infrastructure contractor, for a net cash consideration of US$20 million (£12 million).

The GBM joint venture of Galliford Try, MWH Treatment and Mott MacDonald, been awarded a suite of contracts worth £80m under its current AMP5 framework contract with Thames Water.

Ofwat to investigate leakage failures

Water industry regulator Ofwat has today announced that it will investigate recent failures to meet leakage targets by a number of UK water companies. Ofwat said the failures sent a "poor signal" about how the companies value water.

FT Pipeline Systems has been sponsoring archer, Danielle Brown, as she prepares for the 2012 Paralympics in London.

A new report for the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) shows that renewable sources could provide at least 35% of the UK's energy capacity by 2020.
