Ofwat has confirmed that the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has appointed Chris Walters as an executive member to Ofwat’s Board, following consultation with the Welsh Government.

Chris Walters joined Ofwat - the independent economic regulator of water services in England and Wales - on 5 June 2023 as the Senior Director for Price Reviews.
Prior to joining Ofwat he was the Director of Pricing and Costing at NHS England, which he joined in 2015. He replaces Aileen Armstrong who has left to take up a new role outside the water sector. He has also held senior positions in competition watchdogs and has also worked as a management consultant.
With a PhD in econometrics from the London Business School and degrees in economics from the LSE and the University of London, Chris Walters has held senior roles at the UK’s competition watchdogs, the Office of Fair Trading and the Competition and Markets Authority, including as Chief Economist.
He will lead the PR24 process which sets the price, service, and incentive package for water companies from 2025 - 2030
