Ofwat has published its forward programme for the period 2008-09 to 2010-11 in draft format for consultation.
The forward programme sets out how Ofwat will protect consumers, promote value and safeguard the future over the next few years. At the same time, the Ofwat Board is reviewing its long-term strategy which it expects to publish in summer 2008.
Ofwat priorities for 2008-09 to 2010-11 include developing a framework that will allow effective market competition to develop, delivering consumer benefits through choice and market forces. Over the next two years one key area of Ofwat’s focus will be the setting of price limits in 2009 for all companies for the period 2010-15. The forward programme is intended to give a description of the projects, other than those comprising routine activities in the exercise of Ofwat functions, with the final forward programme due to be published by 31 March 2008.
The draft provides information in summary format on what Ofwat will deliver during the coming year and the resources Ofwat needs to do this. It aims to consult stakeholders on the key challenges ahead for the water sector. Further information about the draft forward programme can be found on the Ofwat website.
