The UK government's ban on microbeads in cosmetics and personal care products has come into force – a landmark step in the introduction of one of the world’s toughest bans on the harmful pieces of plastic.

The Government has set out the next steps for its proposed ban on the use of plastic microbeads in cosmetics and personal care products with the publication of a summary of responses to a consultation earlier in the year on the issue. 

The UK Government has announced plans to ban the sale and manufacture of cosmetics and personal care products containing tiny pieces of plastic, commonly known as ‘microbeads’.
