WFD Daughter Directive gets RIA

A Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) has been proposed by Defra for the Priority Substances Directive which will run alongside the Water Framework Directive.

The Government has, this week, presented a package of actions to deliver the step change needed to ensure that supply chains and public services will be increasingly low carbon, low waste and water efficient, respect biodiversity and deliver wider sustainable development goals.

Draft Climate Change Bill published

The Government’s blueprint for tackling climate change was published yesterday.

Today’s announcement by environment secretary, David Miliband that the draft climate change bill is now open for public consultation is welcomed by the water industry.

A radical new approach to the protection and use of the marine environment was set out in proposals published yesterday by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

As the UK’s implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) gathers pace, water companies and industry will need to make wastewater treatment and management a priority, says Air Products.

Environment Secretary, David Miliband, today welcomed the carbon-cutting measures in the Chancellor’s Budget as the next steps towards a low-carbon economy.
