French National AssemblyYesterday France passed a new law that will ban PFAS in several products including clothing and cosmetics. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a family of over 10,000 highly persistent synthetic chemicals often called ‘forever chemicals’, because they do not break down easily in the environment.

OFWAT LOGOOfwat has launched a new consultation on the acquisition of of Icosa Water Services Ltd by Macquarie – the Australian investment fund owns an 82% majority stake in Southern Water and was previously owner of Thames Water between 2006 and 2017.

DOCUMENT PILESThe Environment Agency is continuing work on its largest ever criminal investigation to date into potential breaches of environmental permit conditions by all water and sewerage companies discharging into English waters.

HOUSE OF COMMONS BIG BENThe House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee has written to the Minister for Water and Flooding, Emma Hardy, to ask if there will be adequate support in place for customers in water poverty over the next five years.

RAPID SOLUTIONS PROGRAMME AS AT FEB 2025Ofwat has expanded the Approach to the RAPID programme and gated process for PR24, enabling more solutions to join. 

 The Government has launched a major consultation on a new strategic approach to managing land use in England to give decision makers the data they need to protect the most productive agricultural land, boosting Britain’s food security in a time of global uncertainty and a changing climate.
