The countdown to 2016 World Water Week has begun - in August 2016, the Stockholm International Water Institute, SIWI, will host the 26th World Water Week from 28th August to 2nd September in Stockholm, Sweden.
The preeminent international forum brings together scientific, business, policy and civic communities to innovate and collaborate in search of solutions to the planet's most urgent water-related issues. Last year, over 3300 participants from 120 countries attended the Week with more than 300 leading international organisations convening events.
This year’s theme 'Water for Sustainable Growth' will address sustainable growth with a focusi on inclusiveness in terms of societal and human dimensions in all regions of the world. It will also be an opportunity to take stock on the progress of the 2030 agenda and the Paris climate change agreement from a multi-stakeholder and sector perspective. The Week will lay the foundation for a continuous stock-taking process, with the aim of ensuring water is part of the solutions moving forward.
UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson and former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd have already been confirmed to speak at 2016 World Water Week.
Registration to the Week is required for all participants - including speakers and invited participants. Attendees who register by 30 June can benefit from discounted Early Bird prices. Click here for more information
