Both Northumbrian Water and Thames Water are using the AMT-SYBEX Affinity Marketflow market interaction solution to manage their wholesale business interaction with MOSL’s Central Market Operating System (CMOS).
CMOS manages all of the electronic transactions involved in switching customers from their current retailer(s) to their chosen provider.
Marketflow, which is currently supporting over 35 million electricity and gas customers and the market interaction solution of choice for 85% of the British gas market and 100% of the gas market in the Republic of Ireland, is available as out of the box solution for any water business connecting to CMOS.
Neil Hislop, IS Programme Manager from Thames Water commented:
“Marketflow and AMT-SYBEX were the obvious choice. When we looked at the market for a solution, AMT-SYBEX’s experience of implementing Marketflow in large scale organisations was a big plus. We expect their involvement in the project and the proven ability of Marketflow will be beneficial in ensuring the process of Switching is as seamless as possible both for us and our customers.”
Nigel Watson, Programme Director at Northumbrian Water Group added that it expected that by working with such an experienced partner its interaction with the CMOS would be both efficient and accurate.
Ahead of the opening of the non-household retail market. AMT-SYBEX said that a lot of the water industry’s concerns about Open Water’s data requirements related to the sheer scale of the problem, saying:
“ A very steep rise in data quality seems likely to be required, and there is an ocean of data to deal with.”
“The beauty of our approach is that you don’t have to boil that ocean. By assessing the risk of poor data quality in each data-set, you can understand where to focus and prioritise. Don’t waste effort on improving things that don’t matter, or that don’t need to be done by day one. Instead, plot a smooth, simple course for Open Water compliance by charting the biggest data risks before you embark – and then you can use this learning as the basis for improving how you manage data in the future.”
The industry data flow management solution is also being used to support market communication and internal data transfer requirements for the competitive water market in Scotland.
