UK Govt overseas climate change Fund opens for bids

The British Embassy in Ankara is now accepting bids for their 2015-16 FCO Prosperity Fund.

The project aims to encourage a move towards sustainable development, on a global level, in line with the UK’s development goals on climate change and sustainability.

Turkey has been identified by the FCO as one of fifteen priority countries in terms of implementing the changes abroad.  Projects must relate to one of three main strands: open economy, energy efficiency/security, or climate change.

The Open Economy strand includes a request for proposals that will encourage the adoption of sustainable technology across all sectors in Turkey, and that will highlight the profits of this technology, both to Turkish society and to their economy.

The Energy Efficiency and Security strand requests proposals relating to the deployment of alternative technologies in the sector, projects implementing energy efficiency and renewables legislation, and projects detailing measures to develop a secure energy corridor through Turkey, tackling issues such as pipeline security; energy storage / stocktaking; transit regimes; or security of supply. The FCO are interested in increasing the uptake of power from biomass, marine, solar and wind technologies.

The Climate Change strand includes a request for projects which follow up on Turkey’s National Climate Change Action Plan, and for proposals relating to the implementation of low carbon measures in Turkey, and the promotion of their benefits.

The FCO expects to fund projects scaling around an estimated £30-90K and micro scale projects that have less than £10K budget.

The deadline for submissions of concept bids is 19 December, 2014.  After a selection process, successful bidders will sign contracts in March 2015, with project implementation starting in April.
