The Ministry of Defence has gone out to tender with a marine construction works contract worth up to £55 million.

Flow Control Lime Kiln LaneAn ingenious drainage scheme has provided much-needed relief to a flood-prone Telford community.  Engineers used complex vortex flow control technology to solve a difficult problem, maximising the storage volumes available to keep within flood protection limits.

The Environment Agency is looking for 3 members of the public to join the Wessex Regional Flood and Coastal Committee to represent conservation, coastal process and general interests.

SSE Water joins Water UK

SSE Water, which provides water and sewerage services to large scale household developments and business customers across the UK through Inset Agreements, has joined Water UK, the body which represents UK water companies at national and EU level.

Wessex Water’s biodiversity action plan (BAP) Partners programme, which provides funding to projects that benefit the environment, will be supporting four major projects who will receive between £15,000 and £20,000 annually over the next five years.

South West Water is currently developing WaterShed projects right across its region aimed at 're-greening' urban spaces to create natural flood alleviation in towns and cities prone to sewer flooding.

Northern Ireland Water has completed a major £650,000 programme of works to improve the sewerage infrastructure and reduce flooding risks in the Rostrevor area, Co Down.

Leading public and regulated services provider Amey has been awarded an £250m extension to its existing waste water contract with Severn Trent Water.

Scottish Water International (SWI), the subsidiary set up in 2012 to offer specialist consultancy services to overseas clients including governments and utilities, has achieved a turnover of more than £2 million in the last 12 months.

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water has started work on its next innovative RainScape scheme. The £2 million scheme in Burry Port will reduce the amount of rainwater run off which flows into local public drainage systems, thereby reducing the risk of sewer flooding and pollution.
