Future Water Association – taking a 10 year view

Future Water Association’s upcoming two day conference in December is set to take a 10 year view of the water industry as the sector enters its sixth investment period.

FW DECEMBER 2015 CONFERENCE 5The Association, one of the UK water sector’s leading trade organisations, has put together a thought-provoking programme exploring the key issues the water companies are now focussing on, including efficiency,  asset management, network maintenance and customers.

Future Water says the focus for new investment has been what customers want, together with the introduction of a Totex (Total Expenditure) based approach in PR14. From 2017, retail and wholesale competition is set to become an important part of the landscape. Rapidly changing technology and information systems and data management – including access to data, capturing data, using data properly – are also key drivers for change.

This means a focus on networks, leakage management, reducing per capita consumption, expansion of metering programmes and a need to be more resilient in a changing climate, with increasing water stress.

The conference will address the key issues surrounding on how water networks are planned and managed over the next ten years and beyond is changing.

Delegates will have the chance to hear from an interesting and informed line-up of speakers during the two day conference drawn from the UK water companies, including David Jacobs, Leakage Data Manager at Anglian Water Services, Martin Hall, Metering Technology Manager at Thames Water and Jeremy Heath Innovation Manager at  Sutton and East Surrey Water.

Other keynote speakers include Nicci Russell Director of Parliamentary and Public Affairs ayt Ofwat Dragan Savic, Professor of Hydroinformatics at Exeter University.

An exhibition area will run throughout the conference which includes networking drinks and conference dinner on the first day. 

Richard Bach from the Government’s Cyber Security, Digital Economy Unit is the Guest Speaker at the conference dinner.
