The Pump Centre in conjunction with Scottish Water has staged a one-day conference on the theme of ‘Improving Reliability in the Water Industry’.
The aim being to explore the factors that impact on the reliability of water and wastewater plant and equipment.
The event was attended by some 40 delegates from Scottish Water and many others from organisations across the water and wastewater sector. And Jacopa’s Parts and Service Manager, Neil Sandell captured the essence of the conference theme with a well-attended presentation entitled ‘Prevention not Cure - Grit Plant Optimisation’
Neil explained that effective grit removal at the preliminary treatment stage is an essential prerequisite for all wastewater treatment works to prevent grit accumulating and avoid costly removal. And he demonstrated that proactive, preventive maintenance reduces the attrition of vulnerable, expensive equipment such as pumps, which can have a profound effect on the entire works’ processes.
